Holiday party

Tonight it was Christmas Eve! Which called for our annual Christmas/ holiday party. My friend lauren came out from the valley, and most of my family came over. Even though it was christmas most of the people were Jewish :) We had salad, pasta, meatballs and tons of deserts. Then we had glugg, which is a swedish alchohol drink that for the first time i tasted(see picture above). It made the room spin for about 10 minutes and made me all giggly with lauren.

I got a blue ipod nano. It plays all my songs, and makes me so happy. I also got a Wicked sweatshirt and ornament from my aunt and uncle. From my cousin and family i got giraffe earrings(be jealous) and from my grandma i got Mary Poppins tickets and a pink snuggie!!

Today i saw Mary Poppins. It was my Hannukah gift from my bawbbi. It was AMAZING!!! I loved every minute of it.

Hannukah!

Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah! My grandma is in town and was supposed to go to her family friends Bar Mitvah, but my mom got sick, so we stayed at home all day and watched musicals.

Swedish Fair

Today I went to the Swedish Christmas fair in downtown la. My dad is swedish and his grandparents came here from Sweden. On the 13th of December St. Lucia comes and welcomes christmas, by wearing candles on her head(see above picture). The doll is from American Girls Kristen, she is from sweden and when i was younger i had a dress just like hers. At the fair they had lots of goods from Sweden and then they had a st. Lucia crowning(its a big deal) where one girl is THE st. Lucia and little girls go behind her. The Crowned girl happens to go to Santa Monica college and also wants to be a teacher.

Today it is Lauren's Birthday.

She is 21 years old(yes she is older than me)

I met her freshman year at CSUN and we have helped each other through countless problems.

Lauren loves One tree Hill, Wicked, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twilight series, and hanging out with friends. Lauren was a girl scout and received her girl scout gold award(like me)

She wants to be a pre-school teacher, and we worked together at Sleep-away camp.

She is the oldest of 3 and loves purple.

Happy birthday Lo! Hope it was amazing!

Updates

1. I applied back to CSUN this past weekend. Its step into the future.

2. I registered for classes already for spring and winter

3. I'm taking an Early Childhood education course online in the Winter, I'm really excited

4. I'm taking world history, English, and math in the spring.

5. I gave up drinking soda, juice, other drinks for one week to help people dig for water in Africa, I donated $10.

6. I went to the mall on Black friday and didn't buy anything!

7. I have a solid A in my speech class.

Thankful

Today was Thanksgiving. We went to my mom's best friends house, The burns family. This is Allison. She has known me since i was born. Her family made amazing food and she made pumpkin pie. It was a great thanksgiving!

I am thankful for all my friends and family and the crazy adventures i have.

Roommates and G*d

On monday i finally did my speech. It was a How-to speech. I racked my brain for weeks trying to come up with a clever and creative idea and then i had a dream about the perfect topic.

Friend or Foe

How to deal with Roommates.

Most of my readers know that i have had the worst and the best of roommates, so i took my knowledge from csun and applied it to my speech. I did a poster with the picture above as an example of what not to do with roommates. This picture was the cause of life, tests, homework, laundry and a social life. I also put a picture of my roommates from last year when we watched inauguration of president Obama.

Everyone really liked my speech, but i went over by a couple of seconds. I got my grade and i got an A! She said it was a big change from my first speech.

On monday I also got some spiritual advice from an unexpected person. My math 31 teacher, she talked to me after class about G*D and having faith in myself. She noticed that i understood all the work in class and for homework but when i take tests its not the same result. She said to put a white light on me and meditate to G*d for a couple of minutes. She asked me "do you believe in a higher being". She says she has faith in me.

Day of the child

On sunday christy and I plus hundreds of mentors attended "day of the child" at the santa monica airport. This event is a celebration of children, who are foster children. The event had games, rides and food. Christy and i got paired up with a boy named Daviance who is 10 years old. We were originally just going to help out with the event but they offered us an opportunity to work with Daviance and it was a great time. Aaron carter and other celebrities came to the event.

AGS Banquet

On saturday i got all dressed up for my honor society Banquet. The theme was casino night. I bought my dress for 15 bucks at Forever 21 and paired it with leggings. I got my hair cut(finally) and the hairstylist put some stuff in it and made it curly. There was a talent show and fancy decorations, and of course dancing.

11/11 Make a wish

Today was 11/11. I was supposed to do my speech for speech class today but my professor had to push things back.

11/11 is supposed to be good luck.

I believe that things happen for a reason but that wishing helps us have control over our crazy chaotic world.

I made a wish, but i can't tell you or else it won't come true :)

Happy Birthday Bawbbi

This is a picture from when my mom, grandma, and i went to disneyland for my 18th birthday.

Today its my Bawbbi's birthday.

She has 3 daughters.

3 granddaughters and one grandson.

She has one sister and one brother.

Bawbbi means grandma in Yiddish.

My grandma has been married one time, she was engaged to someone but then she saw my grandpa at a play and kind of dumped the other guy for my grandpa. My grandpa said the first time he saw her "I'm going to marry that girl" and he did! What a story.

My grandma lives in Palm Desert now. She likes Musicals(just like me) and we also watch the same soap opera. When i was younger she would pick me up from Pre-school or kindergarten and we would go out for a special treat, and sing songs on the top of our lungs. My grandma loves shopping for makeup. Her favorite treat is Dark-Chocolate, and she also like Ice Blended Mochas from Coffee Bean. My grandma grew up in Iowa and always wanted to be a star. 

She is a star to me!!!

Weekend with my dad.

This weekend my mom went to visit my Grandmother in Palm Desert. Which left me and my dad alone. My dad went to church and i stayed home because i still wasn't feeling 100% and i didn't want to get anyone sick. I did all my homework and then he came home and we made dinner and watched Nightmare Before Christmas. My dad loves this movie. I fell asleep about half way(which is normal for me)

Today we cleaned our living room. We threw away old ads from stuff we will never buy and got many things done. I organized our DVDs by genre and alphabetical. It was a great weekend.

Kleenex

I didn't go to school on thursday because i was sick. I had a horrible headache and had chills when i woke up. i decided to stay home and get better which i am almost 100%now.

Halloween and a dented finger

this is a picture from club day, it was Halloween themed. The chemistry club wants me to join their club (i like making things explode, so it could work out!)

On Halloween most college students go out and party their worries away. Some girls dress up in tiny little costumes and look ridicules. This Halloween I babysat for one of the parents at my mom's work. I also got to sleep on their couch because they were planning on getting home so late. I did homework plus read for class and finally got to sleep around midnight. I watched a little bit of tv, they had over 400 channels.The child i was babysitting slept through the night and i got to meet him in the morning.

The night before Halloween, i was watching the news while closing the back door to my house and wasn't paying attention and slammed my index finger in the door. Its all black and blue still and after a long time of writing it really hurts.

Fridays complete me!

This whole week i didn't want to get out of bed. It was just one of those weeks. 

1. I couldn't find my homework or my id when i needed it. 

2.I spilled apple cider all over myself.

3.My speech professor had to basically cancel class to go to a stunt job(she was in twilight) and i didn't bring my other books because i thought i wouldn't need it. 

4. I forgot to turn my alarm on, so i woke up late.

Last night i couldn't find anything and i was so frustrated i went OCD on the world. I cleaned and swiffered my bathroom, i put everything on my bed and vacuumed(it needed it). I felt better after cleaning.

Today i had a plan, i was going to do a bunch of school chores like find winter classes, apply for jobs and  fill out scholarship forms. It didn't work out as i planned though. I ended up watching Gilmore girls and then running to do laundry during commercial breaks of 18 kids and counting(its not natural to have that many kids). Didn't get any of my stuff done. All i did was relax and drink tea.

My dad is a mac owner!!!

This weekend my dad finally broke down and bought and apple. Its the newest and brightest. Its amazing and i love it. I also had my speech midterm and i got a B!! 

Indescribable calm day

Today it was a crisp fall day. There were crunchy leaves everywhere. I went to school with my warm sweater on and had a feeling of calmness that i wished would last forever.

A Saturday Outing and Say Yes to the Dress

Today i went with Christy to the Orange County Market Place. There were t-shirts, sunglasses, cell phone covers, shoes and skateboards. We tried on a few things but Christy only bought one thing and i didn't buy anything. After we went to a store called Piecemakers, with Christy's mom which has quilting stuff and then we ate lunch at the little restaraunt inside the store. We had an all you can eat lunch with salad and bread and soup. Dessert was included but there was a mixup between us and the people working there so they gave us Pumpkin Pie with Ice Cream and charged us when we thought it was part of the meal. After Christy's mom straighted it out we laughed all the way out to the car. Then they dropped me off and i did homework and cleaned my room a little. The fun began when i watched a marathon of "Say Yes to the Dress". Its a show about brides who go to a upscale wedding store in New York looking for their perfect dress. I watched about 3 hours of the show, talking to myself about which dress i liked while drinking Vanilla Caramel Truffle tea and eating Macaroni and Cheese.

Today i took a trip to another campus to see the teacher academy counselor. He helped me plan my classes for next semester and is helping me get one step closer to my goal. Going back to csun. I'm planning on taking a full course load next semester and hopefully working.

Beautification Saturday.

Today Christy and I planted trees and made some special little friends. We got up early and met at an Elementry  near our house. We were the leaders teaching all the other people in our group what to do. Then we made friends with some first graders, and played games with them. It was a great saturday.

History test and a girl scout breakdown

Today was my big history exam. It was vocab with 30 questions and we had to pick 15 to write about. Then there was an essay part.

The vocab was pretty good, i did all of the 15 and only had struggles with maybe one or two.

The essay took a while to think about and by the end my hands hurt from writing.

Then i went to my honor society meeting(AGS) and then went to math tutoring.

After class i went to girl scouts, and now i'm an official assistant girl scout leader. The girls picked out what badges they wanted to do and then we played some games. One of the girls whose is the leaders daughter is having a hard time at life. She had a fit and i helped calm her down. I have had plenty of experience with being the leaders daughter and know exactly where she is coming from.

My mom and i went to California Pizza Kitchen to celebrate the week almost being over.

World meet Rhiana

This is Rhiana and today she turned 20 years old. I met Rhiana freshman year at csun. She has helped through so many things. She is very strong and brave and i don't know what I would have done without her.

Putting out those good vibes

Christy and i have had a crazy week of tests, forgetting notebooks, losing keys and being late to appointments. Today we put out some good vibes for ourselves and someone we didn't know who drives a red toyota. We wrote the note shown above and were happy that it was almost the weekend.

The best cookies are back!!!!

My favorite cookies from Trader Joe's are back. They are peanut butter and Chocolate and they are an amazing way to end a stressful day. My mom bought them for me as a special treat. For a while these cookies were discontinued because of the peanut butter scare a while back but they are back! I'm so happy they have come back into my life

A lucky penny for a perfect monday.

In the morning before my speech class i found a penny on the ground and it helped me have a great Monday. 

1.In my speech class i knew that answers to our pop quiz

2. I knew the answers to the professors questions based on the reading

3. I went to Quiznos and had a really good sandwich.

4. Everyone was really friendly to me when i was walking to and from school.

5. I decided to change my speech topic to Marilyn Monroe and already started researching and writing.

Grove adventures

My aunts house! One step closer.

Today my mom and i picked up my Grandma from my aunts house. I got to see my aunt for a few minutes and my Grandmas dog. It was a long awaited step closer for me. We went to the grove and had lunch at the Cheesecake factory. They had the same chocolate promotion at the grove as they did the day before, so we also took a picture.

Adventures with friends

It is my best friends birthday, brittany on Sunday. And her sister Yael.

This called for a reunion with my best friends from high school.

I also woke up at 9:00 when i was supposed to leave the house at 9:30.

I had no breakfast and was rushed out of the house with my dad.

The bus left right when we were driving to the red light.

The bus was crowded and smelly and i got to our meeting spot early.

All of us ate lunch and then we went shopping around the promenade.

We had to have the birthday girls be distracted so we could sign their handmade cards.

2/5 had to leave early to go do other stuff.

We took a picture for a new chocolate bar and they gave us new samples.

Then i had Jamba juice(delicious always)

We went to forever 21 and i almost bought something but i didn't love it.

So i left empty handed and got on the bus to go home.

I got home and started laundry the second i got home. Then my mom came home so i had to help her.

Its been a long exciting emotional day.

Its also the start of the jewish new year. Its called Rosh Hashana.

My favorite people of Camp.

These are my international friends. The one on the left is Rachel but we call her Kiwi because she is from New Zealand. A kiwi is a type of bird that lives in New Zealand.She was one of the photo specialist and had to go around and take pictures of everyone. The girl also pictured is Bobbie and she is from England. She was one of the horse specialists and she also did archery.They both taught me a lot of new words and all about their home.

Etti(next to me) is from Israel. She was my co counselor first session. I love her. She has a great personality and we laughed a lot when we were together. She was the zip line specialist and she encouraged the campers to go on it. Next to Etti is Amy. Amy is a twin and she is going to UC Davis. She taught me so much about camp because she grew up at JCA. She also taught me about myself and the world. She wants to teach pre-school. 

This is Rachel. She became my close friend when she was my co counselor. She is a freshman at San Diego State. We both love musicals and John Mayer. I don't know what i would have done without her.

Fallon(far left) was my CIT and she was my co when she became a counselor. She is a senior in high school. Yuval(next to me) is from Israel. She pushed me to be the best counselor, and she is a great friend. Sammy(right) is also a senior and was a CIT. 

The girl in this picture is Rose. She was my unit head. She taught me everything i know about camp. She pushed me to be positive even on my worst days and turned me into a perfectionist.(Thank g-d)

Robbo(right) is the song leader for JCA. He leads song session every day after dinner and plays for shabbat. He writes his own songs and plays. He lives in Tennessee and comes out to JCA every year. He has a daughter and two sons.

At the end of the summer the staff from our age group was saying  "Obviously" and "Are you kidding me" with a very over-exaggerated tone.

Gilmore Girls on a Saturday night

Tonight all i did was watch Gilmore Girls and clean. I put all my clothes away and vacuumed. Then right as i was going to go to sleep i heard a helicopter above my house. I tried to fall asleep but they were saying something over the microphone like "the party is over" which would wake me up every time i would almost be asleep. Finally i got annoyed and went out to investigate. The people below me who have a new born baby and toddler were up and the helicopter kept flying around. I could not figure out what was going on so i walked back to my room and my mom heard me. She got her wheel chair(she got hurt again!) and went out with me to see what was going on. It got quiet for a while so we went back to sleep and finally around 1 am i got to sleep. I found out a few days later that some guy with a huge house a couple of blocks from my house rented his mansion to some college students and they had a party of over one thousand people. They put up fliers before warning neighbors of their party but they were out of control and they had 12 security guards. Who ever they are, they are not very popular in my neighborhood.

Disneyland Memories that last a lifetime

I found this really old picture from Disneyland in a pile of pictures while i was cleaning my room. I was in the third grade in the first one and the twelfth grade in the second one.  I'm taking this time to let everyone know that Beauty and the Beast is being remastered and rereleased in Theaters. http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/11/19/beauty-and-the-beast-3d-in-2010/. I'm basically going to be the one in line with all my friends. 2010 seems so far away but i can't wait to see it with all my disney buddies.

First week of school

This was my first week of school at smc for Fall semester. I have a new backpack, new shoes and a new attitude. The way i see it is that i'm at smc no matter what, i can either have fun and enjoy my time or I can go around being sad that i'm not at CSUN. I'm taking math, history, speech and a math class that will help me. My teachers are all pretty cool but its going to be a challenging semester, with a lot of reading and studying.

Last day of summer

Today is the last day of summer. When i went to Target today I bought Colbie Caillat, the perfect artist to keep summer going. She grew up in Malibu and her music is amazing. If you would like me to send you a copy of her music over aim or make you a copy of her cd let me know. Her music is like a girl version of John Mayer.

Kosher food

I knew when i was hired at camp that the food was going to be kosher. No meat and cheese together. The food at jca was ok, i would give it a grade of a B. Some meals were better then others. On saturday nights we always had the same thing. Cheese pizza with Coke and Diet coke mixed together(gross!!) and vanilla ice cream with a chocolate sauce. The pizza tasted good the first 2 times without anything on it. By the third week, i was taking olives or mushrooms from the salad bar and putting it on my pizza. The kitchen staff allowed the tables to get sprite if we had a pitcher. Soda was only on saturday nights.

Since i've been gone. 8 weeks is a long time

The King of Pop died. Everyone was really sad at camp about this. A lot of pre-teen boys came up to the Counselors to tell us he died. Some of us didn't believe that it was true, because of our source. But it is true, Michael Jackson died.

Kevin Jonas got engaged. All of my Jonas Brothers fan campers told me the whole scoop on when and where they are getting married. While others in the group did not care at all.

ZAC AND VANESSA WERE RUMORED TO BE ENGAGED!!!

This one had me worried everyone. I don't really care about the joe bros BUT i care about Zac. Zac is a beautiful individual and he is way too young to be walking down the aisle. He even thinks so. From Yahoo "While Zac keeps his private life private, he opened up, just a little, about his romantic life, if only to shoot down rumors he and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens have marriage on the mind.

"That was such bulls***,he said of recent nuptial rumors. "I'm definitely not getting married. In this business, you're either getting married or they want you to be pregnant. I'm not getting married until I'm 40. If ever. The thought never crossed my mind. Maybe not 40. Maybe not until I'm 30," he quickly corrected himself."

Other stuff happened too. One of the Kardashian sisters is pregnant and a new Black eyed peas song came out.
