Leonard Knight - the man, the mountain, the art.

Tonight i watched Huell Howser at 7:00-8:00 on KCET. Huell, the host goes around and interviews different people about the exciting places/hobbies in Caifornia.  Today he went to a place called Salvation Mountain, that was worth blogging about. 

Leonard Knight was born in Vermont on November 1, 1931. He never liked school and went into the Army when he was 20. His life long dream was to go to California. When  his father passed away he started painting. Knight tried to make a huge Ballon with his love of Jesus but failed and then began his mountain. He started building his mountain but then it fell apart so he rebuilt it with adobe clay. He retouches his mountain and gets many donations to add on to his masterpiece. He is 73 and lives in donated car.This kind of art is truly inspiring.

here comes the bride........

Today i was a bride at a Heritage Square Museum fashion show. My friends Brittany, Yael and Christy also were in the show. My ex-roomie Meghan came and we traded early birthday presents. It was a wonderful day and i am so glad that i got to be in the fashion show.

No smoking

Today before my 8 o'clock class i got in an argument with two guys about smoking at smc. SMC has a rule that there is no smoking on campus except for the 4 designated areas that are on the outside corners of smc. These two guys were smoking in an area where there were signs clearly stating no smoking. As i was walking to my class i got a big wind of cigarette smoke that made me sick. I kindly told these two guys that it was no smoking on campus. They argued with me that there was an ash tray so they could smoke there. 3 signs all around them helped my case. I told them that talking to the SMC police would confirm the rule. They laughed it off and i walked away mad that i now smelled like an ash tray. Next time i won't waste my energy and just walk all the way around smokers who break the rules.

happy birthday Christy!!!!!!!!!

Tonight Christy, Yael and I along with some of Christy's family and friends went bowling to celebrate Christy's 20th birthday. We played 3 games, and i won 1 of them. It was a great Saturday night and we had a lot of fun.

Make and take Queen

Today I spent my day at the rubber stamp convention with my mom. They had different products they wanted to sell so some of the booths had make-and-takes. This was my favorite one. It was really cool, and the demonstrator let me use the butterfly stencil. We sprayed the stencil with different bottles to make the different colors. I did all of the make and takes except one because it was always really crowded. I showed one of the tables my stuff and one women told me i was the make and take queen.

Beverly Hills on a nice day.

Today I went to Beverly Hills with my Grandma and my mom. My grandma told me that she always hears that there are celebrities at this restaurant, but we didn't see any. After we ate, we walked around and admired all the fancy stores and clothes

Beauty and the beast castle in Malibu and my belly dancing cousin.

My grandparents lived in the Pacific Palisades when I was younger and i always saw this house on the top of a big hill that I called the Beauty and the Beast castle. When i was little I always said that when I got my license i was going to go up to the house and take pictures(I still

 have not gotten my license). Today when we were going to my cousins recital we had extra time so we went up to the house. Its just as I imagined when I was little and here are some pictures of the beautiful Beauty and the Beast Castle. The house is located on PCH right near the Getty Museum. 

 

Today my cousin, Zoey preformed at a Belly Dancing Recital near Malibu. She got to pick the music and make up her own dance routines. 7 other girls preformed too. This is the only picture I got to take because there was no photography allowed, because they had a professional photographer taking pictures. Zoey is 5 and a half and loves musicals like Hello Dolly.

Games and musicals

I spent my day babysitting today at my mom's preschool because the church was having a clean up day. I was supposed to be watching 4 or 5 kids but only watched the pastors two daughters because no other children showed up. We played games and the girls took turns listening to music on my ipod. Both of the girls are in my mom's girl scout brownie troop. Hannah wants me to teach second grade and zoe wants me to teach first grade.

This is Hannah. She is in the second grade and loves high school musical. 

Hannah likes to do arts and crafts and play games. She loves to sing and dance. Hannah also loves roller-coasters at Disneyland. Hannah is the handball queen.

 

This is Zoe. She is in the first grade, and loves musicals just like me. For the moment,she wants to be a soccer coach. Zoe likes to help people because she is a brownie. Her favorite animal is a giraffe. She loves Sharpay Evans from High school musical because she is mean. 

I'm obsessed with a man named John

I love John Mayer and i'm not embarassed to say it.

When i'm having the worst day all i have to do is listen to his music and everything gets better. This week my friend Christine let me borrow Continumm, one of his cds and i'm so glad she did. I have only had the cd for a couple of days in my computer and  I already know the order of the songs and some of the words. My dad calls John Mayers music girly man music but i don't care because i'm obsessed with this man named John.

Wicked on the bus

Today after my first math test I decided to go home instead of going to my mom's work. I blasted Wicked and ignored all the weird people on the bus. When we were going up the big hill by my house my favorite song "Defying Gravity" went on. I closed my eyes and I felt like i was almost flying. Then i walked home in my own little world not noticing what was going on around me.

I finished my new favorite book!!

Today in the library i finished my new favorite book. I got it at the beginning of school, so it took me about 3 weeks and that is not bad considering i have done tons of hw and reading. The book is about trusting love and taking chances. Sarah Dessen, is my favorite author and i have read most of her books. Now that i finished one outside book i have to focus on all my reading for school and, wait for summer for more good books.

Dad got a new car!

My dad got a new car on Friday. Today my mom, dad and I all jumped in the shiny new Rav 4 Toyota and went for a drive up to Malibu. I was in charge of helping my dad with all the new gadgets by reading him the instructional manual. We went out to brunch and then tried to find celebrities. We failed in our quest to find any but it was a beautiful day anyway.
